2018 Wedding Guest Trends

Wedding season is in full swing.  As all the beach or more outdoor weddings start to wind down it starts to become a little more difficult to know how to transition your guest attire to the cooler seasons.  I think autumn is a beautiful season for weddings and as a guest attending you have so many options to create beautiful and classic looks.

Lace

This year lace detail is definitely a big trend in fashion itself.  Brands like Self Portrait have put intricate lace detailing at the forefront of high fashion. There is something classic about a beautiful lace detail. This season add lace as either a detailed panel or accent to a dress or be bold and pick a dress in full lace.

Prints

Along with lace, I think a good patterned dress can make quite the statement without the chance of upstaging the bride.  I have been loving florals of course along with polka dots.  Florals are such a beautiful and summery trend and I think dots are just so classic.  Go with big bold prints or dainty busy prints, this year is all about being bold and mixing prints as well so give it a shot you really can do no wrong.

Flute Sleeves & Frills

Another rather unique trend this year is adding an element of flare to a classic dress.  Adding an element of drama to a sleeve allows for a very classic cut to have a bit of flare.  I am also really loving the added detail of a frilled skirt or even added lace detailing to a dress to add some texture.  This season I think is all about classic colors and shapes with added drama with pattern and fabric.

Wrap Dress

Turtleneck, sweetheart, a-line, midi or maxi, there are so many shapes and styles of dresses it can sometimes be overwhelming.  But one style the can hold the test of time is the wrap dress.  It’s also such a stunning cut on any figure.  with the tie wrap, it comes around your natural waist and really defines it creating an hourglass-like figure.  They also come in so many different lengths that women of any height can wear them.  This Revolve wrap dress is so versatile.  It’s the perfect backyard wedding guest look or I could even dress it down with a jacket and booties.

Maxi

Finally as a petite girl we are told maxi style dresses aren’t often the best fit for us and can often times make you look shorter.  But I’m here to say that I don’t believe in that rule.  I honestly think maxi dresses are perfect for women of any height.  For us shmalls I think we should try to look for a maxi dress with an empire or higher waistline.  This gives length to your lower body and makes you appear taller.

Are you going to any weddings this autumn?
