Now I know this shoot doesn’t scream spring and yes this was probably one of my coldest shoots to date in Chicago but the last couple days all I can think is how tomorrow is the first day of spring. I don’t want to be too hasty but I love spring because it always means longer and warmer days. There are a few things that I look forward to doing this time of year.
It is officially spring cleaning season and this weekend I was hit extra hard. Instead of going out I spent my weekend deep cleaning my apartment and it felt so good. With the bright sunshine streaming through my windows, it was so empowering to shake the cobwebs off my life and refresh my space. I organized closets cleaned carpets and cleared out drawers. I love taking these first transitional days to really get my space organized and put together my to-do list for the warmer weather.
Walking the City
As many of you know the last couple of days have been especially sunny and warm. My spring to do list got me really inspired to get something done that I’ve been meaning to accomplish all year. So naturally, along with my trip normal trip to the grocery store, I took a trip to my local plant shop and printed some new artwork for my living room wall. It was so nice to get back outside and walking around the city. I love taking my yoga classes but nothing beats a long walk in the sunshine.
Pulling Out More Dresses
My recent outfit challenge on Instagram for #dailydollface was such a great inspiration to get myself out of the fashion funk I had been. With the warmer weather I can wait to pull more of my dresses out of my closet and get dressed up more. As I mentioned I’m going to try to dress up most days of the week regardless of me working from home or not. That challenge was really fun and it was super exciting to share my looks with my friends on Instagram.
I’ve been having a hard time with the morning being dark again but having sunlight until 6 o’clock has been fantastic. I never realized just how productive I could be with just a few more hours of sunlight. I have been so happy sitting around with all the natural light in my apartment.
It’s almost been a year since I moved to Chicago and I think April will forever feel like new beginnings to me. Its the first time I moved away from home really. Even when I was away at college I was still close to family. Now I really do feel like I’m out on my own, making a real difference for myself. This season is all about new opportunities and being confident and courageous. I will never forget my first week in the city and all anyone could talk about was the summers in Chicago and really last year didn’t disappoint. But I know that this year will be even sweeter.
What are you looking forward to this season?
