5 Tips for Tackle Your To-Do List

This is the time for New Year’s Resolutions while eating healthy and staying active every day are still on my list I am also really focused on staying organized in 2019. I make to-do lists to make to-do lists… because of this, I have perfected the art of creating lists and have found some great ways to make sure you can stay on task and knock your list out quickly and efficiently.

Plan ahead

Write down your to-do list the day before. I like to do this before bed or while I’m watching tv that way I can relax and try to get everything out of my head before I go to bed. When I write it all down I find my mind starts to slow down and I’m not up all night thinking about all the things I want to do the next day.

Only write down exactly what needs to get done

When creating your list focus on tasks to get done in that particular day. Tasks with due dates of the day at hand. You can make a list of tasks you want to accomplish on future days or long-term project but put them in a separate list to check off as they are added to your daily list.

Try to prioritize the urgent over the important

Once you’ve made your to-do list for the day the next step is to prioritize different tasks. What do you need to get done immediately, as opposed to what needs to get done within the day from there you can decide where you should start. I like to take a highlighter and highlight the tasks I want to take on as soon as I get up.

Kill Two Birds

For like tasks such as cleaning your bathroom and kitchen or running to the grocery store and the post office try to mentally group tasks together. If you make one trip and cross off multiple tasks it will make you feel more productive.

Let It Go

Finally, at the end of the day toss your to-do list. That way it’s easier to let go of today and focus on the next day. Toss today’s list and start fresh when writing your list for the following day.

What are your New Year’s Resolutions? How do you stay organized?
