I’m not much of a morning person, with work at 9 I can barely get myself up before 7 and then of course I lay in bed to check Instagram and Snapchat for awhile too then I peel myself out of bed to get ready for work. And on Friday… it couldn’t be anymore of a challenge trying to get out the door before 7 o’clock. But I have learned to really embrace the simple rule my mom taught me as a little girl.
Today, I call it the 8 Hour Rule, every night I take a couple minutes after I wash my face and do my nightly beauty routine to pick my outfit and lay it at the end of my bed for the next day. By doing this I know what I’m wearing and it definitely cuts about 20 minutes off my morning. I’m sure all my indecisive girls know how much of a struggle getting ready in the morning can be and when it’s already done the night before you can focus on other things.
Another thing to shave sometime off our morning routine is to do your hair the night before. With it being summer beach waves are all the rage. That tousled messy waves are so effortless and really simple to achieve the night before. Simply wash your hair or even dampen it with a spray bottle, spray your sea salt spray and scrunch. After I’ve worked it into my hair I like to twist small sections tightly and pin them in small buns around my hair. Sleep with the mini buns and let them out in the morning. This gives you nice little waves you can separate and scrunch.
If you would rather have long Hollywood waves curl your hair in tight rings the night before and wrap them in to a loose bun on the top of your head, clip with an alligator clip. When you wake up the next morning you can let your hair down and the curls would have relaxed in to beautiful waves.
You never realize just how much time you get in the morning when you take a couple minutes the night before to prepare yourself for the next day. So hit that snooze button one more time without feeling rushed.
I always put my clothes out the day before as well! I admit, sometimes I don’t stick to my plan and end up trying on other outfits. For the most part I’m pretty good. It always makes me feel more organized.
