To get my mind off the cold front we have in town right now I’ve been thinking of not only escaping to some tropical destination but thinking ahead to spring, and more importantly all the accessories I’ll be wearing this spring to elevate my outfits. We may still have an unfortunate amount of snow on the ground here in Chicago but I’m dreaming of sunny days with cute dresses and all the ways I’ll be bringing these looks together with some of my favorite extras.

Beret
I don’t know if it’s just a result of the craze Emily in Paris caused but I’ve seen so many berets lately. I, myself have been wearing them even more than I used to. There is just something so feminine about a cute beret. I love that they are the perfect topping for any outfit. I have some in a few different colors and they just elevate any look. Pair a neutral one with literally anything or throw a bright-colored beret on for a pop of color for any look.
Silk Scarves
Along with berets my next favorite accessory has been little silk scarves. I love tying them around my neck and in my hair to give a little bit of color and tie a look together (pun intended). They are such a unique style and can add a bit of feminine je ne sais quoi as well as create a kind of masculine with a pair of trousers and a button-down shirt.
Nylon Bags
The designer on everyone’s lips right now is Prada, they have been making a huge comeback in the last few years but I think the resurgence landed in their 80s nylon bag. They are durable, and have that effortless sporty vibe, and are fun to wear crossbody with workout gear or everyone’s pandemic uniform, the sweatsuit.
Pattern Tights
Even a chilly day can’t stop me from pulling out my favorite skirts and dresses from time to time. I think spring, fall, and I’d even be so bold as to say winter are my favorite times to wear dresses because you can layer them, and the best accessory you can wear with a dress is tights. Specifically patterned tights are some of my favorite because they can add a really fun element as well as texture to any look. A lot of today’s trends are taking queues from the 1960s mod style and bright and patterned tights were widely worn with mini dresses.

Glittery Hairpins
Finally, if you aren’t into trying out boldly patterned tights, or hats a subtle glittery hairpin could be the perfect cherry on top of any look. I love jeweled pins to pin back my bangs or maybe some enamel pins lining the side. With this trend more is better. Pinning in cool geometric patterns or as mentioned lining a deep side part is a great way to add a bit of drama to a look.
I find all these trends to be quite subtle and most importantly can be done in a way that’s all your own. Take color, pattern, placement into your own hands to really elevate your look. What accessories are you loving right now?
I’ve also been loving silk scarfs lately!
