I had a birthday recently and as I approach 30 I have been thinking about all the things I want to accomplish in the next couple of years. With these goals, I have also learned just how important it is to adopt healthy habits in all aspects of my life.

Financial Check-Ins
Being finanically conscious and living within your means is so important as you create goals for your future. With student loans and bills to pay you need to stay on top of your spending if you want to life stress free. Checking your credit score occasionally is very important for this using sites like Credit Karma and some banks even have this feature. Knowing your credit score will help you know weather you are able to buy a car or house or take out a loan.
Next, making sure you have a good credit score is important for big financial decisions but making sure you keep track of your budget is the biggest way you can make sure you have a good credit score. There are so many great apps that can help you keep track of your spending, such as Clarity Money. I also use a spreadsheet to keep track of my bills and how much spending money I have to do things on the weekends with friends.

Daily Self Check-Ins
Along with regular checking with your finances, it’s so important to take care of your mental health. I am a huge advocate for mental health and knowing when you need a break or to ask for help. Every day its so important to take a little inventory on your mental health. I love to meditate and as I mentioned last week in the evenings write down my to-do list for the following day. This is a great way to organizing your thoughts and get yourself on the right foot every morning to be the most productive.

Exercise
Of course you can’t have a list of good habits without your physical health. Exercising is so important of course. As I’ve said before ClassPass is my favorite way to try new classes out around the city. Right now I am really fond of Pilates and Barre Yoga fusion classes to really tone and strengthen my entire body. But if you don’t have the means to sign up for a gym there are so many easy fitness videos on the internet. I really love Body By Bailey and Carley Rowena for easy bodyweight videos. If you don’t have the motivation for that either a simple walk is a great way to get moving.

Disconnect Before Bed
Now, this might be the habit I have the hardest time doing. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in scrolling Instagram or answering emails before bed but I have been trying to make a conscious effort to disconnect an hour before I get in bed. Go and plug my phone in on my desk across the room and close my computer so I have time to unwind and shut off my mind.

Invest In Quality Over Fast Fashion
Investing in quality pieces instead of fast fashion is something I have been working on for a couple of years now. I have been trying to shop less and really focusing on cuts and colors I know will last multiple seasons as opposed to trendy pieces that will go out of style before the season ends. This makes your closet timeless and gives you pieces to continue using for years to come.

Don’t Beat Yourself Up
Another challenging habit is to not be so hard on myself. I will admit I am definitely my own worst critique and when it comes to my physical appearance especially I have a hard time being content. Now there is nothing wrong with wanting to be a better version of yourself every day but when you are picking yourself apart and putting yourself down that’s not helpful. Instead of nitpicking things I can’t really change I would rather focus on setting goals that are attainable and celebrating those milestones when they are complete.
Take Care Of Your Skin
Finally, take care of your skin, start this ASAP! You have one body and should take care of it every day but your skin is especially important. Making sure to wash your face and perfect your skincare routine is important but the most important step is SPF. Make sure your sunscreen has at least 15 SPF and you apply it every day. They make so many amazing oil-free sunscreens and even foundations with SPF built right in so there is no excuse these days not to protect your skin.
