Body Positivity

I think summer is probably the hardest season for me, the clothes get thinner and the hemlines typically get shorter… I find myself judging the tiny flaws and comparing my body to the models on Instagram.  Somedays picking an outfit can be almost unbearable and often times I have to talk myself out of just giving up and not going out.  Don’t even get me starting on days on the beach. While I think as a society we have come a long way in acceptance of “the real women” but I also think we have a long way to go in deeming what’s beautiful and accepting that women are all beautiful no matter what size or shape they are.

Daily Affirmations

Every day make sure to take time to appreciate what your body does for you, it’s incredible just how strong and complex the human body is, treat it right and you can do anything.  In the morning while you get ready take a moment to note of how you feel.  I love to take 5 minutes to meditate and go through the things I want to accomplish throughout the day.

Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe

Surround yourself with positive people who support you.  You don’t have to have friends who constantly just tell you, yes but you want people who inspire you to love yourself and be creative. It all starts with your own positivity, when you’re an upbeat person you will often attract like-minded people. Likewise, the people who are constantly nitpicking themselves physically are people you aren’t going to want around.  They will bring you done and are not good for a body positive mindset.

It’s called Photoshop

This is one I’m very guilty of falling for frequently.  As a blogger, I spend quite a bit of time on Instagram, and it’s incredibly hard not to compare yourself to all the beautiful models and influencers but you have to remember that those photos are touched up and photoshopped and are typically only the perfect moments.  Remind yourself that there were probably hundreds of outtakes to get that one perfect post.

Your Clothing Size Doesn’t Define You

You don’t have to be a size one to be beautiful.  The fashion industry is anything but consistent.  A small in one brand or even line at a particular brand can be something completely different in another. It has nothing to do with how beautiful you are or how much you should love your body.

You don’t have to be perfect at these things either, you’re allowed to have areas you’d like to change, you’re allowed to work hard to improve your self-love.  But don’t stress about them either or be impatient.  It will come in time. How do you remind yourself you’re worth your own love?
