How to Pull Yourself Out of a Work Funk

We all hit that wall, sometimes it feels like the hard work you’re putting into something might not be worth it.  You can feel like you’re walking through sand and just continue to get farther behind.  Today, I have a couple tips to keep yourself on track and even closer to reaching all of your goals.

plaid13Keep your goals in mind: It’s always important to keep your goals in mind when you’re in a funk.  When you feel like you’re getting nowhere pull out your list of goals.  I always make sure to write mine down so I can always revisit them.  Don’t stress so much about your deadlines, you have to walk before you run.

Create a routine: I love having a routine.  I get up at 7, scroll through Instagram for 5 minutes in bed and then I get up and get dressed.  Once I’m dressed for work I make myself a fruit smoothie to take for lunch and if I still have some time left over I will sit down with some tea and read a book.  I will not look at my email before I get into the office at 9.  I think creating a routine and focusing on myself in the morning gives me a little me time before spending 8 hours thinking about others.

plaid4Have a system for your email inbox: Staying organized is also incredibly important and something that can easily get out of control and can put you in a funk. When I get into work I like to go straight into my emails, what came in last night and what do I have to work on for the day.  I use different folders to program updates, Housekeeping for business documents and a folder for personal conversations with coworkers.  This way my main inbox is essentially empty and I can see what’s due at a glance

plaid16Do something nice for yourself after hours: Just like my morning routine, I like to keep work at work.  I think establishing a work-life balance and making time for yourself is so important in continuing to enjoy what you do.  When you work 24/7 you can very easily get burnt out.  I love to pamper myself with a bath, go to the gym, or read a book.  These are some great ways to wind down and give yourself a little self-love.

How do you stay motivated?
