One frustration I have with this autumn is that in the morning it can be rather chilly and by mid-afternoon, it’s in the 80s. You just can’t win either freeze in the office or sweat to death when you walk to the car. I for one am always cold and actually have a blanket I leave at my desk to wrap up in every day so I just can’t win. The weather has been so crazy the last couple weeks. My brain is still living in sweater weather so it’s definitely been difficult deciding what to wear in the morning. So here are my go-to pieces for transitioning outfits and living your fall fashion dreams with summer temps.
Duster sweaters: I talked about this trend last winter and I really think they are still going to be relevant this fall but with a bit of a twist. Although the long boho style sweaters will still be in style I think this year’s go to will be a bit shorter and more of a cardigan style. But I love these sweaters so much, they are really cozy for those chilly mornings or days where you really don’t want to think about an outfit. They are also really nice if you work in an air-conditioned building but when you’re ready to leave and it’s warm you can easily shed the layer and be comfortable.
Chunky Knit Sweaters: When the first winds of Autumn blow my sweaters immediately find their way out of my closet. When it’s so chilly in the morning I find myself always reaching for one of my big cosy chunky knit sweaters. They are so versatile and even on those warm humid days, you can create a really cute look. I have been loving the slightly cropped sweaters they are really great for this flip-flopping weather. On warmer days I’ve been pairing them with a pair of shorts and sneakers for a fun laid back look, or with a skirt and booties to dress it up a bit. If it’s extra cool in the office or morning toss on a pair of tights to pull the look together. I’m really loving adding a patterned tight to add a little dimension
Ankle Boots: now I wear my camel booties all year long with shorts, with dresses, with just about anything but there is just something about a pair of booties paired with a pair of skinny jeans or knee-high socks that just said autumn to me. I have slightly transitioned to my collection of black booties more these last couple months they are such a great staple in my closet that just pulls any outfit together.
Wool Hats: I’m a sucker for a beautiful accessory and hats are seriously my weakness. This season I can see wool hats making a comeback as a regular accessory. I love them with jeans, you can wear a cute dress. Wool hats can give any outfit an instant cooler weather vibe.
Structured Bags: Finally bags, with colder weather comes more accessories. I feel like I carry around more items, tissues, hats, and lotion find their way into my bag this time of year so I find I need to carry a big just a little bigger than my summer purse. This season I’m seeing more structured, larger handbags. I’ve been loving my Henry Bendel, and Coach for some beautifully structured handbags that look like great bags to carry all your autumn essentials.
