Last Minute Halloween Costumes

It’s finally my favorite time of year!  I think I spend a good 4 months planning what I want to wear for Halloween and then I forget and seem to not prepare any of them or prepare pieces of about 8 costumes.  But this year I decided to create a list of my favorite easy to put together costume ideas you can grab these pieces last minute to creates an awesome costume!

halloween7Daenerys Targaryen:

So, of course Mother of Dragons has been a fan favorite since she graced our screens. I think this year will be no different and her style will be recreated in many different ways. Creating this look is really fun and you can get super creative with it.  For my costume I went with her iconic royal blue theme from more of her time in Marine.  I had this long dress in my closet from my photography post and put on a pair of calf high boots.  For hair and makeup I would swap out my natural hair for a platinum wig and make sure to really draw in those brows for her iconic bold look.

Little Red Riding Hood:

Who doesn’t love this classic costume idea? I think she’s such a fun and diverse character, you can modernizer her or choose a more timely costume.  I have always wanted to be her since I was a kid but the costume store options for adults just never thrilled me (and kinda felt cheesy) So for this I decided to use a cape my mom made me when I was a kid. If I do recall correctly it was rather easy to make and you can pick up the pattern at any fabric store.  A plain black skater skirt, and an off the shoulder white blouse.  I paired the outfit with a simple braided half up do and my lace up boots.

Flower Crown Snapchat Filter/Lana Del Rae: halloween4.jpg

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I love the Flower Crown Snapchat filters.  So for a fun pop culture nod I created this super easy costume.  First for the crown I used this tutorial and fake flowers to create the huge crown, if you don’t have the time you can also pick some up pretty cheap. Then I paired my crown with a really simple outfit, if you are going for the filter idea wear something you would typically wear, but for my look I wanted to pair mine with a bohemian dress also playing with the Lana Del Rae, Born To Die vibe. For makeup with the filter the big draw is that it makes your skin a flawless feel.  So I kept my make up very natural but used a very bright highlight to give my skin a glow. It’s the perfect recognizable look or if you want to be unique, if that doesn’t work call yourself Lana Del Rae and act really spacey and brooding all night.

Hipster Leia:

I think this might be my new favorite last minute costume.  I had an old white Leia costume sitting in my closet but instead of recycling that I decided to upgrade it a bit.  First, I used the same off the shoulder top from my Little Red Riding Hood costume and paired it with a pair of black disco pants and a pair of black boots.  Then I created her iconic buns and pulled some pieces out to make it a little messy.  Added a little choker and took the belt from the old costume to tie the look together.

halloween18Sandy D from Grease:

Finally, yet another fun and classic character that can so easily be recreated.  For Sandy, I recreated her final “bad” look.  I wore a black off the shoulder top with my black disco pants and a pair of wedges.  I think if I were to shop for this look I would look for a pair of little red mules to pair with the look to make it more authentic.  Then for hair and make up, keep the face pretty simple and just add a red lip and curl and tease the hair really big.

I am officially so torn on what Halloween costume to wear this year!  Really hoping to get to dress up for at least 2 nights…

What is your favorite idea?  What will you be wearing this year?
