Look Good Traveling

Recently, my family and I decided to take a very long awaited trip back to
our hometown of Valparaiso, Indiana.  I got the opportunity to see my beautiful elementary school best friend all grown up and get married!  Because of the wedding essentials packing for this trip was a bit more tricky because I had less room to pack for days.dollfacediarieswedding

While packing for any trip I always make sure I roll my clothes, if you roll them neatly then you limit your risk of getting wrinkles. I packed my beautiful ASOS maxi dress like this and it came out completely wrinkle free.  Also, to limit the space taken up by beauty products make sure you streamline your make up selection, keep things simple, and bring a neutral pallet.  I typically bring my favorite foundation, concealer, nude lipstick, eyeliner, and of course the Lorac Pro pallet.  Along with keeping your makeup kit simple, shower and other beauty products should be limited for maximum clothing room.  I like to bring the travel sized everything for these kind of trips and dry shampoo is key.

As for clothes I like to do a quick check on the weather and when picking outfits I keep our itinerary in mind.  For our Valparaiso trip, after the wedding our main focus was apartment hunting for my sister. We did a lot of walking around the beautiful city of Chicago, so comfort and versatility was very important. To make sure you have options make sure to pick a neutral color theme.  That way you can mix and match throughout the week.

Day one we did some apartment hunting and decided to kill some time at the Lincoln Park Zoo.  So I decided flats and a cute t-shirt and jeans combo was important for all the walking and standing we were doing.

Skinny jeans and a cute button downs were great for the spring weather in Chicago.  On day two we decided to hit up the Chicago Art Museum for our in-between appointments entertainment. Many of the other days I wore my flannel as a warmer layer on the dreary days.

Other then dressing casual in jeans comfort, flats for walking around and my beautiful trench coat for those rainy days, or drive to and from New York was very long. We spent a lot of time sitting in the car so I decided a pair of leggings could be cute yet comfortable to stretch out and relax on the ride.

What are your tips for packing for a week long vacation?
