I know what you’re going to say “Jessa, it’s the third week of January why are you so late?” And for that I’m sorry, I went back and forth quite a bit on this idea and didn’t want to sound too redundant but these are some of my favorite posts (and youtube videos) to read so I thought I would share my bit of a year end round up with you all as well to capture all the trends in 2016 that I loved.
Fashion:
There has been no shortage of me raving over, over the knee boots. And technically I jumped on this trend in 2015 but they were a serious staple in every blogger’s closet and are totally worth mentioning. They are cute with shorts, dresses, jeans, dressed up or down. I have loved wearing these shoes all fall and winter.
Next, is a brand that again, if you follow me in Instagram (@itsjustjessa ;)) you will know I love. I have done nothing but rave about Show Me Your Mumu all summer and their adorable rompers and sets. They have some of the cutest prints and comfortable styles I think I pretty much lived in these pieces. Since it’s winter I’ve been incredibly deprived, but I can’t wait to break them back out as soon as the weather gets nicer.
Next, off the shoulder tops were another thing that really took over my summer wardrobe. Whether they were tops of my Mumu sets or rompers or from another brand I just love how sweet and sexy that style is.
Finally, until about a year ago I never thought my 5 foot frame could never wear maxi skirts. I always felt like I would be overwhelmed with the fabric but last year I feel in love. I love how they draped. Maxi skirts are so versatile and can be worn in any season, definitely a staple for any height.
Beauty:
I was always a makeup lover, I loved trying all the new products as soon as they came out as long as I can remember. But this year I don’t know if it’s because I’m now in my late-mid-twenties but I’ve been a lot more interested in skincare products and trying to take really good care of my skin as it ages. So this year I spent a little more money on moisturizers. The Origin Ginzing and Night-a-mins moisturizer have done wonders for the health of my skin. It feels so much softer and I have less break out than I ever have. I feel really good about the preventative measure I’m taking against wrinkles with these products.
Next is a scent, I think this year I also had more interest in perfumes. Viktor and Rolph Flower Bomb, is such a beautiful scent. I have never been one to love floral perfumes, but there is something about the combination of flowers in this scent that are so amazing. It’s such a fresh scent rather than a heavy grandma scent.
This year has also been the year of the liquid lipsticks. I am especially a fan of the matte versions but I feel like you can get liquid lipstick so precise and the formulas are always so pigmented. My favorite brands of liquid lipstick are Anastasia Beverly Hills, they have the best nudes. Lime Crime, although their formula is a bit drying they have amazing colors. Finally the Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick, has the best formulation. I love how it feels and it wears very evenly.
Another beauty product that I started using this year and now reach for almost every time I do my make up is the Naked 3 pallete. I just love the range of colors, they have some warmer pinks as well as the cool darker colors. You can combine any combination of colors to create an amazing smokey eye.
Finally I have been obsessed with Mr. Kate’s BeautyMarks Freckles. These are the perfect addition to any summer outfit, I felt Coachella ready anytime I put these on my cheeks. They have also been a fun way to add a little sparkle to my looks, this winter as well. There are so many different designs and they come in silver and gold. I cannot rave about these enough.
I loved this 2016 compilation! It’s never to late!
