Typically I love Halloween and every year I love creating new Halloween costumes and dress up for the holiday. But this year will be a little different, I will actually be traveling over the weekend so I won’t be able to partake in the festivities. If you’re not into dressing up or won’t be around like me you can still partake in the following Halloween festivities to get in the autumn spirit.
As I mentioned I love Halloween, the costumes, the decoration, and definitely the candy I have a huge sweet tooth and I think Halloween often times have the best candy and the best deals on it. So instead of handing it out, I love buying myself a couple big bags and make popcorn for a festive movie marathon.
Which brings me to my next item, have a movie night! Some of the Halloween movies are some of my all-time favorites. If you’re into scary movies invite some friends over for a spooky movie marathon. If you’re like me I love putting on movies like Hocus Pocus, The Craft, Halloweentown, Beetlejuice, and Nightmare Before Christmas. This is the perfect evening event create some fun finger foods and creepy cocktails, pull out those bags of candy and get cozy.
If you would rather do a few things outdoors I think pumpkin picking is a must this time of year. Around Syracuse, we have some great patches where you can go out and pick your own pumpkins. So bring some friends (preferably strong ones) and get out there and pick your own pumpkins. Then have a carving party with pumpkin beers and spooky music to get you in the mood. You can also do some fun DIY decoration projects to decorate your house a bit.
Next, instead of creating fun Halloween costumes you can still dress for the holiday fun. There are so many fun Halloween PJs out there. Pick up some cozy PJs and have a day in bed. Throw on a pumpkin face mask and veg with a great lazy day. You can either pick up the mask or make a day out of it by making your own with this recipe.
For those gloomy days in I love to sit around, read and drink coffee, so in the spirit of the season a good day in reading tarot and drinking warm drinks is the perfect weekend activity. I love a classic warm apple cider, hot chocolate, or a new favorite of Tumeric Latte.
What are you doing for Halloween?
