The Best Petite Friendly Activewear Brands

Since the pandemic started I’ve had a really hard time finding the motivation to work out. I loved my routine of going to my favorite bar and yoga studios in the city after work or in the morning and setting aside an hour every other day to stretching and working on my body. But after the city locked down so did all of my favorite studios. I’ve tried to find ways to get active but finding the motivation to do an at-home workout is a lot more difficult than I thought. With ClassPass and the ability to take virtual classes all over the country as well as great online fitness instructors I’ve been looking for unique ways to get excited about working out again and there’s just something about a brand new workout kit to get you excited about your next class.

There are so many brands out there that have great quality sets but these are my favorites that also have great fits for Petites.

Varley

Varley is a fantastic California based activewear brand. Their sets are so beautiful and come in really unique colors and patterns like this incredible rusty orange color. They also have incredible sweaters for the upcoming cooler weather.

Lululemon

I feel like people find Lululemon to be overrated but as a petite gal, I find their activewear to be the best because I love the quality of the fabric and their option to get your leggings hemmed is a short girl’s dream. Instead of relying on brands to make short enough inseams, you can get them made perfectly for you! I prefer getting my activewear basics like black leggings from Lululemon.

Outdoor Voices

Outdoor Voices is another great option for basic colors. They create great high waist leggings and make many of their pants with a 25″ inseam. I love their tops and if they even make cute skorts and dresses.

Old Navy

If you’re looking for pieces at a lower price point Old Navy has great basic options and they even come in their Petite line. I always love when brands create specialized pieces for Petites so you know they are designed with you in mind.

Nike

Nike is always a name you think of for activewear but lately, they’ve been trying to up their game and create more inclusive pieces especially for the plus-size community but they are also very petite friendly. They have a great line of 7/8 leggings and their sizing can do down to XS but I do find their stuff can run a bit small. I love their fun prints and cool designs they have something for any activity.

Zella

Zella is another great brand that lasts. I have had a pair of cropped leggings that are some of my go-to leggings. They are a great length and the high waistband sucks you in so beautifully. For the quality I also find their activewear to be really reasonably priced and there is a great selection at Nordstrom. If you decide to buy from Nordstrom you can also take advantage of Nordstrom’s tailoring service and like at Lululemon get your activewear customized just for you.

Honorable Mention: Skatie Swim

Finally, an honorable mention goes to Skatie Swim. I discovered her amazing California based boutique through the Salty Blonde and not only fell in love with her incredible swimsuits but I also discovered her activewear and can’t get over how comfortable her bike shorts are. If you’re looking for a buttery soft high waist bike short head over to her shop. Along with the amazing bike shorts she also creates really fun designs for her matching bra tops.

I love when brands have tailoring options to really get the perfect fit but looking for sets with a 7/8 length or cropped are always a safe bet when choosing leggings. These brands all create good quality sets to motivate you if you are also in a bit of a fitness slump like me. Have you tried any of these brands? Or is there something new I should try? Let me know!
