Spring is for new beginnings and is a chance to really change things up. Although here in Chicago has been getting some freak my mind is definitely onto warmer weather. I am so ready to say goodbye to all my sweaters and coats and say hello to some new trends. I’m dreaming of all the whimsical trends that await the warmer weather. There are a few trends that I’m especially excited about and here are a couple ways I’m going to be styling them this season.
florals
Florals for spring? Groundbreaking I know… but this seasons like many before florals will make their comeback. This time with frilled accents like collars and sleeves. These floral prints will be dainty or larger and more vibrant. Florals aren’t reserved for dresses but they will be on trousers and feminine floaty tops.
plaids
As I mentioned in my power dressing post, this year will be all about confidence and empowered women’s fashion. I think the sophistication of plaids will be a huge trend not only in the office but after hours. Shorts and blazers, little co-ord sets, and trousers with basics will definitely be a staple in my wardrobe all year.
british staples
Along with plaid trousers specifically I’ve just been loving the quintessential British trends, the baker boy hat is still my go-to headwear, and of course, my classic Burberry trench has made its way back into my outwear rotation. I’ve been loving the feminine menswear the Brits do so effortlessly. Oversized blazers with fitted trousers and loafers, sporting a basic t-shirt, messy hair, topped with a chic hat. There is something so empowering about British Style. Dare I say this might take the place of Parisian Style in my heart…
slingbacks/kitten heels
If you’re not as fond of heels I think the kitten heel trend will definitely be more your cup of tea and luckily it’s been a favorite for designers as well. This year at NY Fashion Week Marc Jacob’s collection was styled with the most 80s inspired kitten heels. This shoe style is also a continued favorite of designers like Chanel and Dior. They can be dressed up or worn with jeans and a simple tee and the biggest plus is with a low heel they’re easy to wear all day.
statement earrings
Earrings are definitely one of the easiest ways to give any outfit some personality. I think as the weather gets warmer we’re going to be seeing bigger and brighter earrings. Though I haven’t been daring enough to try the tassel earring trend yet I am really obsessed with it. I think they are so fun and playful and can really add a pop of color to a basic outfit. You all know I am a lover of simple jeweler I am a rather petite gal and often find my face really overpowered by large statement earrings. Recently brands have been creating really fun simple and delicate statement earrings which I am loving. Many are gold or silver thin hoops or details with intricate designs. I definitely think I will be trying this trend this spring.
high waist trousers
Now honestly has this trend really gone out of style? I love how flattering and elongating high waisted anything is. But I definitely see more and more pieces being styled to sit at your natural waistline. I also think this will be the season for trousers. Give your favorite pair of denim a well-deserved rest and give some other fabrics a go. I have been loving plaids and I think when its finally short weather a beautiful pair of paper bag waist shorts are finding their way into my spring staples.
bucket bags
Finally, this springs handbag is going to be the bucket bag. There have been so many different styles coming out for spring and I have been loving everyone, especially Henri Bendal’s Influencer’s Mini Hobo Bucket. I think these bags are so cute and practical. The crossbody style of the Bendal makes it the perfect everyday bag. It can be taken to work, out shopping and even to those music festivals you’re attending this summer.
