Summer 2018 Bag Trends

I love accessories, I’m such a sucker for a cute hat, trendy pair of sunnies, or chic handbag.  Because I find myself being very simple with jewelry this is my way of adding some finishing touches to an outfit.  Typically I go for the very classic structured black bags but this season, in particular, I have been really enjoying the bags on trend. The following bags are some that I keep reaching for in my own closet or lusting over on the web.

Now I know what you’re thinking. “Uh what?  Aren’t those for rave goers or old people on their euro vacation?”  Well, I’m here to tell you they’ve gotten a facelift this season.  Instead of having that utility feel designers have been making this bag style more of an accessory than its predecessor. These bags are daintier and come in a variety of shapes.  They are great accessories for a night out on the town or for the lady who hates carrying a shoulder bag.

Camera Bags

Camera Bags are the perfect everyday bag.  They are small enough to wear every day and still big enough carrying all the essentials.  These structured bags are very chic, usually with a square like shape.  Usually, the camera bags are a very simple style so adding your own personality with a customized strap is a great way to elevated your bag.

Backpack

Since moving to Chicago I have a new love for my backpack.  All through high school and college I never owned a backpack and swore to never carry one but recently they have gotten more fashion friendly and I am loving the convenience of carrying my things on my back rather than over my shoulder.  Designers are making smaller sizes for daily use, throw your wallet and phone in and go as well as larger bags to carry laptops and more geared toward office use.  A beautiful leather backpack is a perfect accessory for any corporate worker hopping a train or walking a good distance to work every day.

Bucket Bag

When I think of spring and summer trends one that immediately comes to mind is the bucket bag.  It gives such a springy feel to any outfit.  With such a unique yet simple structure these bags are so versatile and can be paired with just about any look for a chic feel. They come in such an array of styles that you really can’t go wrong.

Transparent Bags

Finally, the transparent bag trend is something I haven’t quite adopted yet but am very intrigued by.  I get some any 90s vibes from these bags but I’m kind of into it.  The Staud transparent bags with the beautiful inside accent bag are so unique and elevate this trend.  Instead of the carrying all your belongings on display these little pouches add a little texture and dimension to the transparent bags themselves. It takes this 90s trend and adds a little class.

What’s your favorite handbag this season?
