What I’m Looking Forward to this Autumn

I’m definitely, a summer gal, I love cute sundresses, long sunny days, and sunbathing in the park. But there is something about a beautiful fall day that I love to cherish. Unfortunately, fall doesn’t ever last very long in Chicago so it’s so important to appreciate the little things while they are still here. I’ve been trying really hard to slow down and take a moment to look around in my day and be grateful for what I have and what I’m able to do.

I love watching the leaves on the trees on my walk to and from home slowly change from green to yellow maybe red and then slowly fall. Taking the time to slow down and watch the world around you teaches you to appreciate everything in your life. Sometimes I feel like I get so wrapped up in checking things off my to-do list that I forget this. I’ve recently committed myself to make time for myself in the morning, enjoying a podcast, or taking the time to make my coffee and read or do something for me before starting my workday. I also want to make a conscious effort to love my life.

In autumn the days get shorter, but this doesn’t have to be a bad thing instead, you get to enjoy the golden hour sooner. I also find myself staying inside in the autumn months and focusing on self-care, taking warm baths, reading more books, and journaling. So here are a few things I’m looking forward to in autumn

I love apple cider, I hate pumpkin spice but can’t get enough warm apple cider this time of year.

I love fall accessories, I love any excuse to wear my Burberry plaid scarf and a beanie. I love not having to do my hair in the fall and just putting on a cute hat instead.

I love light jackets, just like fall accessories I love the opportunity to wear either a denim or leather jacket, I feel like they are the perfect layering pieces and can pull any outfit together.

I love crisp mornings – nothing beats a cool morning walk, the air is brisk and fresh this time of year and I love it.

I love chunky sweaters, I definitely have a problem, when I say I love sweaters I truly mean it. I can never have too many in my closet.

I love watching people run for cover during an autumn rainstorm

I love Halloween costumes. I’ve always loved being able to take one day and be whoever or whatever I want. I love going through my closet and playing dress-up to create a costume.

I love spooky movies, I’m not a scary movie kind of gal, no gore for me. But I like to snuggle up with a little suspenseful movie now and again especially around Halloween.

I love making way too much veggie chili to eat on my own.

I love outdoor Sunday Football games, now don’t get it twisted, I’m not much of a football fan, but there’s something about drinking beer with your friends on a patio or at an outdoor bar to watch the game.

I love outdoor bike races, this is usually the last days of road racing which makes me sad, and of course, the Tour de France is long over but cycling is still going with cyclocross which is so much fun to watch along with mountain bike racing. Nothing beats stomping through the woods to cheer on the riders from mid-track.

I love fall nail colors. After starting my hair, skin, and nails journey with Wellbel I’ve started doing my nails more often and learning how to shape them on my own. I love going darker and moodier with my nail shades during the fall months and can’t wait to experiment this fall.

I love dark lipsticks. Just like my nails, my lips also tend to take on moodier shades, deep berries, darker brick colors, taupe-y nudes, and darker reds all come back into rotation (even while masking up)

I love the start of hockey season. Some get excited about football, even baseball in the summer but my countdown is to hockey season. My dad brought me up a Blackhawks fan and I look forward to a new season every year. getting to watch the players hit the ice and hearing the national anthem in the United Center gives me chills just thinking about it.

You may see fall as a step closer to winter, colder weather, and shorter days but a simple shift in mindset can make this time of year so special. Let me know what your favorite little moments are your favorite this season.
